Assam CM confirms BJP’s tie-up with JD(U) and AJSU for Jharkhand polls

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 28 announced BJP's tie-up with Janata Dal (United) and the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) Party.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also serves as BJP's co-in-charge for the state elections, provided key insights into the party's strategic alliances.

Addressing the media in Ranchi, CM Sarma confirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to form an alliance with the Janta Dal (United) and the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) Party.

"The seat-sharing arrangement is almost finalized," CM Sarma revealed, signaling that the BJP's alliance with these regional players could bolster its electoral prospects. He further added that discussions over one or two seats were still pending, but assured that a conclusive decision would be made soon.

The Assam Chief Minister announced that the formal alliance would be declared only after the end of Pitru Paksha a period in the Hindu calendar dedicated to ancestral rituals.

The BJP’s alliance with JD(U) and AJSU could play a crucial role in its bid to secure a victory in the upcoming Jharkhand elections, as both regional parties have considerable influence in the state.
