Assam CM hails PM Modi's 100th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat'; says milestone for Indian democracy

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed the completion of the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, as a historic day for India's democracy. Speaking to the media in Guwahati after listening to the programme, Sarma appreciated the efforts of ordinary citizens and their contributions to various causes such as Swachh Bharat and Local for Vocal, which have been consistently advocated by the Prime Minister through Mann Ki Baat.

Sarma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the innovative programme, which has galvanized the entire country with a sense of pride in being Indian. The 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat was broadcast globally, including at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Speaking on All India Radio, PM Modi congratulated the listeners and said that the program belongs to them and is an expression of their feelings. He also thanked the listeners for their letters and messages over the years, adding that he was emotional at their outpouring of love.

The journey of Mann Ki Baat began on the festival of Vijaya Dashami in 2014, and since then, the program has become a mass movement, associated with various causes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat movement, love for Khadi, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, and Amrit Sarovar.

PM Modi credited the people for the mass success of these movements, and in 'Mann Ki Baat', the efforts of many people who are selflessly working for education have been highlighted. He cited the examples of Late D. Prakash Rao, a tea vendor in Odisha, who was engaged in the mission of teaching poor children, Sanjay Kashyap, who runs Digital Libraries in the villages of Jharkhand, and Hemlata N.K., who helped many children through e-learning during Covid.

The Prime Minister also received a special message from UNESCO DG Audrey Azoulay regarding 'Mann Ki Baat', who gave her best wishes to all the countrymen for the completion of 100 episodes of Mann Ki Baat. Mr. Modi expressed happiness that she raised important issues of education and culture.

In his address, PM Modi stressed that the promotion and preservation of education and culture have been an ancient tradition of India, and his government has taken several initiatives in this regard, including a National Education Policy and the option of studying in a regional language.
