Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma shares some glimpses of iconic monument Rang Ghar's beautification project

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 24 shared some glimpses of the iconic monument Rang Ghar's upcoming beautification project and said it represents the best Ahom architecture.

The beautification project of the Rang Ghar was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

''Rang Ghar represents the best of Ahom architecture. Sharing some glimpses of the iconic monument’s upcoming beautification project, which was launched by Hon’ble PM,'' Sarma tweeted.

It is worth mentioning that Rang Ghar is one of the most iconic monuments of Assam.

Due to prominent architectural features and unique construction techniques, this building strongly represents the rich heritage of Assamese culture and architecture.

It was built during the reign of Swargdeo Pramatta Sigha and it served as a royal sports pavilion.

Meanwhile, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi expressed his happiness as the Chief Minister accepted almost 100 per cent of his proposal for the design of the Rang Ghar project.

The meeting, which took place on April 24, 2023, at the Chief Minister's office in Janata Bhawan, was attended by various MLAs, including Jorhat MP Tapan Gogoi, and other concerned officers.

Gogoi, who is known for his criticism of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, shared his joy on social media, stating that it was a happy day for him and the people of Sivasagar.

He also thanked the Chief Minister for accepting his proposals one by one despite all the obstacles.

The state government will now send the proposal to the central government, and instructions have been given to the District Commissioner to assess the ground.

Akhil Gogoi had earlier written a letter to the Prime Minister urging the establishment of a new airport in Sivasagar to boost transport and communication in the district.
