Assam CM releases Rs 25 crore for public transport workers' pension

In a significant move to improve the welfare of public transport workers, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, during his speech at the Secretariat Administration, announced the allocation of a Rs 25 crore fund for the pension of workers in the public transport sector with the promise of adding Rs.50 crores more in next year.

This fund will be added to the state’s budget this year and aims to reduce the financial challenges faced by these workers, many of whom had not previously received pension benefits.

The announcement comes alongside the establishment of a Mini Integrated Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Khanapara, a project aimed at further enhancing the state’s transport infrastructure. CM Sarma's pension initiative is expected to provide much-needed financial security to workers in the sector, offering them a sense of relief.

Their leadership will ensure the effective management and distribution of these funds, which are anticipated to improve the living conditions of public transport workers across Assam.

This initiative highlights the state government's commitment to supporting the livelihoods of essential workers in the public transport sector, contributing to their overall well-being and financial stability.
