The much-anticipated bye-election for the Bongaigaon Assembly constituency began today at 7 am, with polling stations across the region witnessing a steady stream of voters.
A total of 1,82,354 eligible voters are set to determine the fate of eight candidates vying for the seat, including Congress nominee Brajenjit Singha.
Singha, accompanied by his family, cast his vote at the No. 7 Popragaon LP School polling station early this morning. After voting, the Congress candidate expressed optimism about the outcome of the election, stating, "The Bongaigaon constituency is no longer a stronghold of the AGP. It has now been divided into two factions, and I am confident that the people will choose me to represent them."
The constituency has seen increased political activity as the election unfolds, with Singha's statement highlighting the changing dynamics of the region.
