Assam Congress leader Debabrata Saikia reacts to India Today C-Voter survey, says hard to accept

Leader of Opposition, Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia asserted that the C-Voter survey carried out by the India Today group ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election is hard to accept.

Speaking to the media, Debabrata Saikia said, "It will be hard to accept the C-Voter survey carried out by the India Today group as there are other institutions who have done the same survey wherein BJP has not performed well."

"The way India Today has showcased the survey, I think the credibility of India Today will be hampered... I can tell about Assam that Congress will win more than 3 seats wherein India Today has only projected one seat," the Congress leader added.

According to India Today's C-Voter survey, if parliamentary elections were to be held today, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm would retain power with a comfortable majority of 306 seats.

The survey revealed the NDA would cross the magic figure of 272 that a political party or alliance needs to form the government. According to the Mood of the Nation poll, the NDA would win 306 seats, while the Opposition’s INDIA alliance is projected to secure 193 seats, while the other political parties would bag 44 seats.

Debabrata Saikia also said that during the live telecast of Chandrayaan-3, the viewership dropped drastically once PM Modi came to the fore, which signifies the impact of the saffron party ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

Speaking on the delimitation process, the Congress leader said, "BJP thinks the Muslims should vote for the Muslim candidate and the Hindu should vote for their respective candidates but our Congress leaders are ready to face any challenges in any constitutes," he added.

"Be it Gaurav Gogoi or Pradut Bordaloi from Nagaon constituency both are capable of winning from any constituencies of Assam.
