Assam Congress spokesperson Reetom Singh has been re-arrested and brought to Morigaon, where he was produced before the District and Sessions Judge's Court on April 3 evening.
The arrest was made based on a case filed by Dhonti Sharma, leading to fresh legal proceedings against the political leader.
Singh, who was earlier in police custody for two days, was taken into custody by a team led by Morigaon Additional Superintendent of Police, Pritam Saikia. The Morigaon Police had sought seven days of custody, but the court granted only two days of remand before his re-arrest.
While being escorted by the police, Reetam Singh addressed the media, alleging that his arrest was politically motivated. "A political conspiracy has been hatched against me. A case has been filed against me just because I spoke about Ambedkar," he stated.
The case against Singh is based on an FIR lodged at Morigaon Sadar Police Station, which led to his initial detention.
