Assam: Cop caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 10000 in Chirang

Sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam on January 9 caught red-handed and arrested a police sub-inspector (UB) on charges of demanding bribe from the complainant for releasing his vehicles.

As per official sources, the anti-corruption team acting on special inputs, laid a trap and arrested Chintu Das, Sub Inspector (UB) of Dhaligaon Town Outpost in Chirang for demanding Rs 10,000 (part bribe money as against the total bribe money of Rs1,50,000 demanded) as bribe money from the complainant.

The tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and has been seized accordingly in presence of independent witnesses. 

A case has been registered in ACB Police Station on 09/01/2024 vide ACB P.S. Case No. 09/2024 under Section 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).

Finding sufficient evidence against the accused public servant, he has been arrested in connection with the above referred case.
