Assam: Cop goes missing in South Salmara Mankachar after falling in Brahmaputra River

A cop went missing in South Salmara Mankachar, Assam after falling in Brahmaputra river on January 7.

The cop who was reportedly PSO of the Deputy Inspector General of the district, was on his way to Bandihana police station by boat from Fakirganj in South Salmara. 

The cop reportedly fell unconscious and slipped into the Brahmaputra river. The cop has been identified as Kaushal Kalita.

As per preliminary reports, the Deputy Inspector General of Police including the Superintendent of Police of the district, was on their way from Fakirganj police station to Bandihana police station when suddenly the PSO fell from the boat.

It is learnt that a search is underway for the missing cop.
