Assam: Election worker allegedly taken away by police personnel for questioning ahead of polls

An election worker, working for one of the independent candidate of Semkhor constituency under Dima Hasao, Assam was allegedly apprehended by a group of police personnel from his residence under Maibang police station on January 5. 

As per sources, the election worker identified as Thaopre Haflongbar was taken away by few police personnel for interrogation. 

According to Thaopre Haflongbar’s wife, last night few police personnel came to their house, put out all lights and break the gate. They call out for her husband and take him along with them. 

She further said that a women police constable said that they are from Maibang police station and are being ordered by Superintendent of police to pick him for interrogation.
