Assam: Elephant rescued from ditch in Gossaigaon, released back into Raimona National Park

In a dramatic rescue operation, forest officials in Gossaigaon successfully saved an elephant that had fallen into a ditch while searching for food. The incident occurred in the village of Mainaopur, located within the Sanfan range. 

The elephant, part of a herd that had ventured out of Raimona National Park at night, became trapped in the ditch as the group was making its way back.

Promptly responding to the situation, forest personnel from the Sanfan range arrived at the scene and utilized a JCB to excavate the soil surrounding the ditch, allowing them to safely extricate the elephant. 

Following its successful rescue, the elephant was transported back to Raimona National Park and released into its natural habitat. This operation was conducted under the initiative of the forest department of Raimona National Park, ensuring the elephant's well-being and return to the wild.
