Assam: Explosion heard near CRPF camp at Joysagar in Sivasagar district

The sound of an explosion was heard today evening near the CRPF camp at Joysagar in Assam's Sivasagar district. 

The sound of the blast was reportedly heard today at around 7:15 pm. The sound of the explosion sent shockwaves in the area with locals doubting that it was a grenade blast. 

Police soon reached the spot and began investigation. The police team, led by Sivasagar SP Shubhrajyoti Bora, began probing the area. However, later the police told the media that they did not find anything that indicates that it was a bomb blast at the spot. 

"We checked at all possible locations at the spot. I have not found anything suspicious. We checked in front of the CRPF battalion headquarters near from where the incident was reported. Nothing suspicious has been found in the entire area. If we find anything suspicious we shall inform the media," said Sivasagar SP Shubhrajyoti Bora. 

There were also reports among the local media that a blast was conducted near the 149 CRPF camp by the ULFA-Independent militant outfit. However, the police denied any such thing happening at the spot.
