Assam: Fake transgender impersonators apprehended in Bongaigaon

The Railway CID (Criminal Investigation Department) has apprehended three individuals masquerading as transgender persons, known as "kinnars," aboard the Bangalore Express. The impostors, who were collecting money from passengers were taken into custody during a railway operation.

The three men had disguised themselves as transgender individuals and were found harassing passengers on the train. Some unsuspecting passengers were tricked into parting with their money, while others were subjected to harassment.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Saheb Ali, who went by the alias Pooja, Shahnur Rahman, also known as Kusum, and Mirajul Islam, who went by the name Durga.

After their apprehension, all three underwent a thorough medical examination. The results of the examination were both surprising and revealing—the individuals were, in fact, males pretending to be transgender. This discovery exposed their fraudulent activities, as they had been collecting money from passengers under the false pretense of being genuine transgender individuals.

Following their medical examination, the impostors have been placed in the custody of the New Bongaigaon Railway Protection Force (RPF).

A railway official who was involved in the operation explained, "In Train Number 12510, the Bangalore Express, we, in collaboration with the RPF and CRPF, conducted an anti-social operation. During our operation, we uncovered the presence of duplicate and fake transgender individuals. Specifically, we identified three individuals as impostors."

He further added, "We requested them to disembark at Bongaigaon Railway Station, where they underwent a medical examination. To our surprise, the examination revealed that they were, in fact, males pretending to be transgender. These individuals had been collecting money from passengers under false pretenses."
