Assam: Five students left injured after tree falls on school bus

Several students were injured when a huge eucalyptus tree fell on a school bus at the entrance of St Ursula's High School in Mitham village of Dhekiajuli.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 7:15 am, left two students seriously injured and they have been admitted to Tezpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The incident took place as the school bus, ferrying students from different roads of Dhekiajuli town, was waiting to descend from the national highway onto the road leading to the school.

Due to traffic snarls caused by private vehicles returning after dropping off students, the bus was halted when the tree suddenly fell on it.

Immediate chaos ensued among the students, and a crowd quickly gathered to assist in evacuating the children from the bus.

Five students sustained injuries in the accident, with two being seriously hurt and requiring advanced medical care. Eyewitnesses reported a scene of panic as the tree crashed onto the bus, but the prompt response of bystanders helped prevent further injuries.
