Assam: Floods inundate Dibru-Saikhowa national park, Laika Dadhiya village in Dibrugarh

Large parts of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and Laika Dadhiya village in Dibrugarh district have been inundated after flash floods hit the region following incessant rainfall.

Several houses have been reported damaged with poultry and cattle washed away by floods and the rising river water.
Stranded residents of Dibru-Saikhowa and Laika Dadhiya are waiting for the rescue team to help them evacuate from the submerged areas.

Several herders on board their boats are out in the heavily flooded waters looking out for their cattle to be shifted to safer locations.

Meanwhile, the annual floods in Assam have already worsened with about 34,000 people across 11 districts reportedly displaced, as per the ASDMA report.

Altogether 34,189 people, comprising 14, 675 women and 3,787 children, are reeling under the impact of the deluge. The number of people affected by the flood waters has increased from over 29,000 in three districts on June 15 as the rain continued in the state. 

Bishwanath, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Tamulpur and Udalguri are among the affected districts. 
Lakhimpur is the worst hit with over 23,516 people suffering from the deluge, followed by Dibrugarh with 3,857, Darrang with 2231, Bishwanath with 2231 and Dhemaji with 1,085. 

Eleven relief distribution centres with eight in Lakhimpur and two in Udalguri, have been set up.
