The headmaster of Chaudhury Bazar Primary School (No. 466), Abdul Muqtadir has been accused of financial irregularities amounting to nearly Rs 9 lakh in the distribution of mid-day meals in Kaliganj, Sribhumi district. The allegations were made by assistant teacher Sumana Choudhury, who has also reported receiving threats. She has filed a formal complaint at Kaliganj Police Station.
According to Choudhury's complaint, the headmaster has been mismanaging funds allocated for mid-day meals since 2017. The issue came to light after the state government issued a directive instructing all schools to return unutilized mid-day meal funds. However, no funds were returned from this school, leading Choudhury to conduct further investigations which revealed discrepancies.
The allegations prompted the intervention of the Block Development Officer, who visited the school to conduct an inquiry. Subsequently, a meeting of the school’s management committee was held to discuss the matter. However, the meeting escalated into heated arguments, leaving Choudhury concerned for her safety.
In her complaint, Choudhury has demanded protection and called for a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities. She has also appealed directly to the Chief Minister, urging swift action to ensure justice and accountability in the matter.
