Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited the semen collection centre for livestock in Barpeta today, July 25, while stressing on the need for improving the quality of livestock in the state
Governor Gulab Chand Kataria arrived at the semen collection centre, accompanied by Barpeta District Commissioner Ayush Garg and other officials. The visit emphasized the significance of livestock improving in the state.
At the semen collection center, Governor Kataria highlighted various facets of the facility. He pointed out the pressing need for livestock improvement in Assam, noting that current efforts in this area are insufficient.
Governor Kataria remarked on the visit, stating, "I came here to observe the semen collection center. This facility houses buffaloes as well as bulls, including breeds like the Jersey bull and Rajasthan Gir. Semen collected here is distributed across all districts of Assam and neighboring states. The effect of improving livestock in Assam has been considerably low. The local breeds of cows are small and produce less milk. The objective of this semen collection center is to facilitate crossbreeding, resulting in calves of superior quality that can produce more milk."
