Assam: Heavy storm topples gantry on National Highway 151, halts traffic

A large gantry structure collapsed onto National Highway 151, disrupting evening traffic and causing significant congestion. The incident occurred when a heavy storm swept through the area, bringing strong winds that caused the gantry to fall onto the main road in Karimganj, Assam.

The sudden obstruction brought vehicular movement to a complete standstill. However, swift action by local residents helped mitigate the situation. They managed to pull the gantry aside, clearing the way for traffic to resume.

Fortunately, no injuries or accidents were reported as a result of the collapse. Despite this, the incident has sparked a debate over the approval and installation of such massive structures. Concerns are being raised about the criteria and safety measures in place for erecting gantries along busy highways.
