A major tragedy was averted on January 29 after CRPF personnel recovered Improvised Explosive Device (IED) under a culvert near the Dirak gate at Assam-Arunachal border.
The CRPF personnel, who were on their routine checking, saw three youths flee after placing an IED below a culvert near the Dirak Gate, Mahadevpur, in Arunachal Pradesh.
It is suspected that the three youths might have placed the IED and fled after spotting the CRPF troops.
A bomb disposal squad reached the spot to diffuse the explosives which were recovered by the CRPF personnel. The area has been cordoned as tense situation prevails along the Assam-Arunachal border after the recovery of the explosives.
The area is still surrounded by police team and local administration as investigation is underway.
