However, he remains in custody as he has been unable to submit the required bail bond for his release.<br>

<p>Majumdar was arrested late Tuesday night following his confrontation with Dambaru Saikia, Managing Director of Assam Cooperative Apex Bank, during a protest against alleged corruption. <br>
 </p>

<p>The charges against him - Sections 351(2)/3(1)(r) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 2015 - sparked concerns over procedural handling and press freedom.<br>
 </p>

<p>Due to his inability to submit the bail bond, Majumdar will remain in judicial custody tonight and is expected to be released tomorrow once the formalities are completed. <br>
