Assam: Karimganj Police seize banned drugs worth Rs 40 crore in major bust

In a significant operation led by Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das, a massive haul of banned drugs worth Rs 40 crore was seized.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid in the bypass area of Karimganj, resulting in the recovery of two lakh Yaba tablets.

The drugs were cleverly concealed in a separate chamber adjacent to the petrol tank of an Eco vehicle. This vehicle was traced back to Champai in Mizoram, indicating a well-coordinated smuggling effort.

Selim Uddin, hailing from the Patharkandi area, has been arrested in connection with the case.

Initial investigations reveal that the number plate on the vehicle was fake, adding another layer of complexity to the smuggling operation.

The police are currently interrogating Uddin to uncover more details about the smuggling network and potential accomplices.

Superintendent Partha Pratim Das emphasized the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, highlighting that this seizure marks a significant victory in the fight against narcotics.
