The Assam Congress had planned a grand celebration in Lakhimpur at 11 AM today to mark their anticipated victory in the Haryana Assembly elections. Congress workers were summoned to join the festivities, hoping to rejoice in what they expected to be a significant win. However, as the election results emerged, the mood shifted dramatically, leading to the cancellation of the planned celebrations.
With no gatherings occurring in Lakhimpur, Congress workers found themselves waiting for their leaders, who did not show up to acknowledge the situation. BJP MLA Manab Deka stepped in by sending four boxes of sweets to the Congress headquarters ensuring that hungry workers would not be left empty-handed.
Speaking to India Today NE, Deka clarified his gesture and said , “This has nothing to do with the election results. It is my responsibility towards every resident of Lakhimpur, which goes beyond party lines.”
In contrast, Congress leader Ripun Bora dismissed Deka's gesture as a "cheap stunt," and said that it was merely an attempt to distract from the election outcome.
Meanwhile, as the BJP consolidates its lead in Haryana, Union Minister JP Nadda has already reached out to Nayab Singh Saini, the BJP's chief ministerial candidate, to extend his congratulations. A key meeting is currently taking place at the residence of outgoing Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to discuss government formation.
Nayab Singh Saini expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana, crediting Prime Minister Modi for the electoral success. "The people of Haryana have put a stamp on the policies of PM Modi," he stated, emphasizing the BJP’s connection with the electorate.
