Assam: Land sharks torch four houses in Juria, multiple injured in arson attack

In a shocking incident, a gang of land mafia allegedly set ablaze four houses in Juria, under Assam’s Nagaon district, injuring several people on Saturday early morning.

The assailants reportedly intended to unlawfully seize the land owned by two local residents, Rahim Uddin and Abdul Rashid.

The violent attack resulted in four houses being completely destroyed and at least six individuals, including women and children, being injured. A person named Faizul Islam is believed to have led the attack. The police have been notified and an investigation is underway.

In a related incident in Guwahati city, a reputed land mafia member, Ramen Madahi, was injured during a police operation. Madahi, a resident of Lalung Gaon in Lakhra and known land grabber, was shot in the right leg while trying to evade the police. He is currently receiving treatment at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital under police surveillance.
