In a concerning development, the police in Lengtisinga, Bongaigaon district have allegedly failed to adhere to the directives of the Director General of Police (DGP) leading to accusations of inhumane treatment during an arrest. Reports suggest that the Lengtisinga police subjected a suspect in a family feud case to physical assault, exacerbating tensions in the area.
The victim identified as Rupchand Ali, a vegetable trader hailing from Behulapara in Abhayapuri, was reportedly targeted by the Lengtisinga police at the behest of police officer Rohil Boro. This incident marks another instance of alleged police brutality against Ali, who has already faced torture at the hands of law enforcement authorities.
As a result of the reported assault, Rupchand Ali has been admitted to the civil hospital in Abhayapuri for medical treatment. The severity of his injuries and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain undisclosed.
The failure of the Lengtisinga police to comply with the DGP's instructions raises questions about law enforcement practices and the protection of individuals' rights during police operations. Allegations of physical assault by police officers further underscore the need for accountability and transparency within the police force.
