Assam: Major fire outbreak at Bijni Jute market, goods worth lakhs gutted

A major fire broke out at Bijni's jute market on October 29, destroying goods worth lakhs. The fire broke out at a jute house in Bijni town.

As per preliminary reports, several items including jute products were destroyed in the blaze

The fire is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. Bijni Fire Brigade team reached and managed to extinguish the fire.

Bijni town was saved from the fire while the Lakshmi Mela was going on. As per preliminary reports, the fire allegedly broke out due to negligence on the part of the electricity department, triggering the fire due to lack of electricity at a much lower level.
