Assam man allegedly kidnapped in Manipur, family receives disturbing torture video

A man named, Raja Taleb, from Assam's Barpeta has been missing for over 45 days after he travelled to Manipur with three of his friends — Eidul Ali and Rubul Ali, both from his village, and Junaid Ali from Nagaon.

While his friends returned home, Raja did not. The 28-year-old, hailing from Bhella village, was allegedly kidnapped, stripped, tied to a pole, and brutally beaten with sticks, leaving him severely injured and unable to speak.

The family said that they received a disturbing video of Raja being tortured. In the video, a cloth was stuffed into his mouth during the ordeal to prevent him from crying out for help.

Meanwhile, the three friends who allegedly accompanied Raja to Manipur have returned home and are reportedly roaming freely, raising questions about their role in the incident.

Raja’s family has accused the police of failing to investigate their involvement thoroughly.

WHAT IS THE CASE?

Raja Taleb, a father of two, left Bhella for Guwahati on November 1, accompanied by his friends, who later took him to Manipur under the pretense of a leisure trip.

However, the trip turned into a nightmare when Raja called his mother on November 3, informing her that he was being held captive.

Unidentified individuals allegedly called the family demanding Rs 20 lakh for Raja’s release. Unable to pay the hefty ransom, Raja's family has since been left in a desperate situation, with no word on his safety or whereabouts.

The family claimed that no concrete action has been taken by the police.

Raja’s mother claimed that both Barpeta and Guwahati police have passed the responsibility between themselves, advising her to file complaints in different jurisdictions.
