A family conflict over beef consumption escalated into chaos in Assam's Baksa on December 18. The incident began when Bajra Rajbongshi, a local resident, brought beef into his home following a dispute with his wife.
The situation quickly spiraled out of control, triggering a confrontation between family members and local villagers. The unrest led to a prompt response from the local Banhbari police, who arrived at the scene, conducted an investigation, and subsequently detained Bajra Rajbongshi.
Further investigation revealed suspicions that Rajbongshi’s son had procured the beef from someone belonging to the nearby Miya community.
The affected family has since filed a formal complaint against Bajra Rajbongshi, demanding that he and any other individuals involved be arrested and face appropriate legal action. The incident has raised concerns over the potential for communal tensions in the region.
