Assam: Man drowns in Gangadhar river in Dhubri district

A man lost his life in the Gangadhar River while attempting to cross it in a tiny country boat with his nephew and daughter on Monday. Malek Ali, a native of Kaldoba III village in the Dhubri district, has been identified as the deceased.

Malek Ali reportedly visited his relatives in the Margdadhar area two days earlier, according to sources. He made the decision for shipping his nephew to Agomoni in the same boat along with his daughter Umme Salma, who had an exam. 

But heavy currents caused the boat to capsize in the middle of the river, and Malek Ali disappeared. When his daughter and nephew cried out, other nearby persons heard them and came to their aid. 
 
Malek Ali's body was found a few hours after a search was initiated to locate him. Both the deceased's relatives and the villagers are shocked by the tragedy.
