Assam man drowns while going for bath in sluice gate in Chirang

A young man drowned in the Asrabari Sluice Gate in Assam's Chirang District in Bijni on Wednesday (July 24). Kishor Boro, a resident of Bhumkipara village, was working as a Technical Officer in Delhi. He was a former student of Gauhati University from the 2020-2022 batch.

The incident occurred around 4 to 4:30 pm when Kishor, along with his cousin and a friend, went for a bath at the sluice gate. While Kishor and his friend were in the water, his cousin, who was not bathing, remained on the bank.

Several people were also present at the site taking a bath.

According to the onlookers, after waiting for a few minutes, Kishor's cousin noticed his absence and began searching for him. Despite showing Kishor’s photo and asking others for assistance, neither his cousin nor his friend could locate him.

The situation quickly escalated, leading to a frantic search.

On Thursday (July 25) morning, rescue teams retrieved Kishor's body from the sluice gate.

Authorities have urged people to exercise caution while swimming in natural water bodies.
