Assam: Man trampled to death by wild elephant along Indo-Bhutan border in Baksa district

Amid rising incidents of man-elephant conflict in the state, another incident of a person being trampled to death by a wild elephant along Indo-Bhutan border along Indo-Bhutan border at Bilpar under Batabari forest range in Assam surfaced on the night of Vijayadashami (October 24).

The tragic incident took place at Bilpar under batabari forest range office in Assam and the deceased has been identified as Pradeep Boro.

"Last evening, arpund 8 pm, a wild elephant came out following which around 50-60 villagers came out including the deceased person Pradeep Boro to scare away the elephant. Suddenly, chaos ensued and during that commotion the elephant trampled the deceased person", said one of the locals to the reporters.

It is learnt that a wild elephant entered Bilpar village around seven o'clock on October 24 along with a man named Pradeep Boro who came out to chase the elephant. 

Later, the forest department along with the police reached the spot and recovered the body and brought it to the police station. It is to be noted that in the last three months four people have lost their lives due to elephant attacks in the northern region of Baksa district.
