The Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) Margherita Branch, the largest organization representing tea garden workers in Assam, convened its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday at its office premises.
The session was presided over by Gautam Dhanowar, President of ACMS, while Secretary Hari Nanda Gorh elaborated on the objectives of the meeting. The event saw participation from vice presidents, office bearers, and executive members representing 38 unit committees under the Margherita branch.
Addressing the gathering, Hari Nanda Gorh emphasized the significance of the AGM, which is held annually to deliberate on key issues concerning tea garden workers. Discussions revolved around wage hikes, medical benefits, provident fund (PF), gratuity, and other welfare measures.
A key highlight of the meeting was a proposal demanding an increase in the daily wage of tea garden workers to Rs 501, reflecting the organization’s continued push for better labor rights.
