A major fire broke out in Guwahati's Sarumotoria area on September 23 following a suspected cylinder blast. The blaze, which engulfed several shops, led to the destruction of goods worth several lakhs. While no injuries have been reported, the intensity of the fire caused significant damage to the local businesses.
Locals believe that the extreme heat prevailing in the area may have triggered the cylinder explosion. The fire spread quickly, gutting multiple shops and raising concerns over fire safety measures in the region.
As the fire raged, locals voiced their frustration when fire tenders arrived late at the scene. This delay allowed the flames to spread further. Despite the late arrival, several fire tenders eventually reached the location, battling the ongoing cylinder blasts to bring the situation under control.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the explosion and assess the extent of damage to the affected businesses.
