A diversion tunnel was shut following a significant landslide on October 27, resulting in another calamity for the National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC)'s Lower Subansiri Hydro Electric Power project in Assam.

On the left bank of the hydroelectric power plant, the No. 1 diversion tunnel was closed due to a significant landslip, as previously reported.

The water level in the project's bottom portion has since dropped.

According to reports, eight diversion tunnels have been blocked in all. Local authorities have reported that lakhs of fish have died due to the sudden drop in the water level of the Subansiri River.

It should be mentioned that the diversion tunnels were closed when the main dam's construction was finished. However, the main diversion tunnel was reopened due to the significant landslip.
