Assam: Massive protest in Rangia after dumper runs over two, vehicle torched

A dumper was set ablaze by angry crowd after it hit two bikers in Rangia town, Assam. Tensions escalated after the two motorcyclists died on spot after being run over by the dumper. 

As per reports, after witnessing the incident, locals in the area set fire to the dumper that caused the accident and protested against the administration for taking no action against the dumpers who are plying even in the day time and causing havoc.

The two deceased who were hit by the dumper have been identified as Nazim Ali and Hatim Ali, both residents of Narayangaon, Rangia.

Locals were enraged after the incident and set fire to the dumper that was involved in the incident, escalating the situation. In the meantime, the local police rushed to the scene to control the situation.

On the other hand, the locals staged a protest demanding the administration to take action against the dumpers and prevent them from recklessly driving on the road connecting Rangia and Bhutan.

The protesters claimed that the locals had been terrorized by fast-moving, bulky vehicles, and that the intersection saw frequent accidents.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that a vehicle carrying a wedding party crashed into a ditch in Doboka, Assam's Hojai district, killing one person and injuring at least five others.
