Assam mazdoor sangha demands construction of dilapidated Tikak colliery road

Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Khadan Mazdoor Sangha affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), on July 18 staged a dharna at Tikak colliery mining area office of NEC CIL over the pathetic condition of the road which has become a major problem for the commuters and the local residents of the area.

The organisation protested that steps were not taken for development even after the road from National Highway 153 to Tikak colliery area has been in a dilapidated condition for many years.

Shivlal Shrestha, the president of Akhil Bharatiya Khadan Mazdoor Sangha said, "No leaders from other unions have visited this area to seek a solution for the people living here. Others just promised that committees will be made and various steps will be taken, but nothing happened."

Along with members of the organisation, Shrestha raised slogans against the government, seeking a solution to the problem. "Humari maangein poori karo," the members voiced their demands in unison.

He addressed the people regarding the same.

It is worth mentioning that minor accidents have often taken place on the said route.

On the other hand, there is also risk of fatal accidents occurring where many a times patients died on the way to hospital.

The protestors demanded that arrangements be made for the development of roads at the earliest otherwise they shall intensify strong agitational programme in the coming days.
