Assam-Meghalaya border talks: Himanta Biswa says resolution on track, no fixed timeline

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the pending six border disputes with Meghalaya but refrained from giving a specific timeline, emphasizing that the issue involves deep public sentiment from both states.

Speaking on the matter, Sarma said, "From Assam’s side, we are eager to resolve the pending disputes. Out of six, three can be settled anytime. However, Meghalaya seems to prefer resolving all six together. We are continuously working on it, and I am confident that a resolution will be reached."

The Survey of India is currently carrying out the demarcation process, with progress moving steadily.

While an official date for the next round of talks has not been set, Sarma assured that efforts are ongoing, and he remains hopeful for a resolution "sooner rather than later."

The people of Meghalaya are eagerly awaiting the next phase of discussions as both states push forward in their efforts to settle the long-standing border disputes.
