A man has been arrested near the Assam-Meghalaya border in Dudhnoi with counterfeit currency, according to reports on Thursday.
The man has been identified as Songsakar Golbin Momin (30), a resident of the East Garo Hills district in Meghalaya.
Locals at Dudhnoi’s Damra market reportedly nabbed Momin with the fake currency while he was buying betel nuts.
They then turned him over to the local police. Three bundles of counterfeit Rs 500 notes were seized from Momin, totalling a value of Rs 1,41,000.
