Assam: Meghalaya power department engineer dies in fatal road mishap on NH-17 in Boko

A fatal road accident took place around 10 pm on Friday on NH-17 at Shingra Shalni in Boko. A Honda WRV vehicle (ML 08 F0821) hit a parked truck (AS 01AA 9770) that was on its way from Guwahati towards Tura in Meghalaya.

The deceased Sanam Sangma (55 years old) was seriously injured in the accident while Henry Sangma (55) was partially injured. Boko police reached the accident spot and admitted the injured couple to Boko Primary Health Centre but sent them to Gauhati Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Sanam Sangma is an engineer in the 'Meghalaya Power Corporation Limited' and her husband Henry Sangma is also an engineer in the Meghalaya Urban Development Department.

Sanam Sangma breathed her last in the ICU of Critical Care Hospital, Lakhra, Guwahati at around 3.45 pm. Boko police are already investigating the matter. 

The driver of the truck said that the truck was carrying cement from Guwahati to Boko but had to be stopped due to a technical snag. Meanwhile, Sangma's body has been sent to GMCH for postmortem.
