Assam men allegedly attacked by Tripura youths while travelling in Agartala-Silchar train, probe initiated

A young individual from Assam fell victim to an assault perpetrated by youths from outside the state. Reports indicate that three youths hailing from Patharkandi in Karimganj were traveling on the Agartala-Silchar train along with their families, having embarked from Agartala.

However, during the journey, a young man identified as Pritam Deb, hailing from Dharmanagar in Tripura, engaged in uncouth behavior towards the Assam youth, accompanied by lewd remarks.

This sparked a verbal altercation between the two groups, which eventually seemed to have settled down. However, upon the train's arrival at Dharmanagar station, a sudden and violent onslaught ensued as approximately 25 youths descended upon the three individuals from Patharkandi.

The assailants viciously attacked the Assam youths, resulting in one of them losing consciousness due to the severity of the assault.

The victims from Patharkandi recounted the harrowing incident, emphasizing that the entire ordeal unfolded in plain view of the Dharmanagar Government Railway Police Force (GRPF).
