Assam minister echoes Chief Minister's statement, says 'Ajmal is a symbol'

Echoing the recent statement by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, state cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika has targeted the All India Democratic United Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal and has said that there is group of people under his symbols doing wrong things in the state.

Speaking to media, Hazarika said that CM Sarma's statement that Ajmal is a symbol, denotes people who are engaged in wrongful activities in the state. He even went on to say that most of the people in this group are from the 'Bangladeshi origin community' in Assam.

"Ajmal is a symbol. A lot of people are in Assam through Ajmal's symbol. Among them are love jihadis, there are criminals too. There may be a few good persons as well. But there are land grabbers in the Ajmal group. Mostly they are engaged in love jihad, land jihad and crime. The indigenous factor does not come in the Ajmal symbol, I dont think so. But we have dealt firmly with this Ajmal group. Most of these are from the Bangladeshi origin people," said Hazarika.

Pijush Hazarika's statement comes in after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently made a comment saying that Ajmal is not a person but a symbol for people engaging in wrongful activities. Here, the Assam CM said that people engaged in love jihad, land jihad and other criminal activities in the state come under the Ajmal group.
