Krishnendu Pal, newly inducted as a cabinet minister in the Assam government, received an overwhelming welcome as he visited his constituency, Patharkandi, on December 12.
Thousands of supporters and well-wishers thronged the streets to greet him, marking the occasion with a massive bike rally and celebratory processions.
The minister’s entry into the district was met with festive fervor, beginning with an open-car parade through the Elangjuri area.
Traditional bands played, and a symbolic tableau depicting Ram, Sita, Laxman, and Hanuman, crafted by local artist Kankon Shishu, added a cultural touch to the proceedings.
Minister Pal stopped his convoy to perform aarti for the deities, showcasing his reverence and connection to the region's traditions.
The rally culminated on the city’s main highway, where a sea of supporters gathered to celebrate the historic moment.
Speaking at the event, Minister Pal expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and lauded the people of the Barak Valley for their unwavering support.
“It is a matter of great honor and responsibility to represent the aspirations of this region in the Assam Cabinet after nearly 40 years. I pledge to work tirelessly for the development of Patharkandi and the Barak Valley,” he stated.
