Assam: Miscreants loot Rs 45 lakh from Punjab National Bank depositor

Miscreants struck in broad daylight in Nagaon, looting a significant amount of money intended for deposit at banks. The sum stolen amounted to a staggering Rs 45 lakh, which was brought to The Punjab National Bank in Marwaripatti by Younis Ali, an employee of Aditya Agroris Mill.

The incident has sparked concerns about security and safety in the area, prompting the swift response of Nagaon police, who have launched an investigation into the robbery.

According to Younis Ali, the depositor, he had initially intended to deposit the money at Union Bank but now replaced by Punjab National Bank. Recounting the events, he stated, "I arrived to deposit money in Union Bank but now it is Punjab National Bank. I stepped out in front of the bank, grabbed my bag, and headed to the cash counter. It was crowded, so the teller asked me to wait. I sat down with my bag, unaware of two individuals nearby. While I was on the phone, they suddenly grabbed the bag from me. Inside was 45 lakh. I didn't catch a good look at them. The police are reviewing the footage to identify them."

As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
