Assam MLA Kamalakhya Purkayastha compares Congress office to a Madrasa

North Karimganj MLA Kamalakhya Purkayastha criticized the Congress, asserting that the current ideology and approach of the party would have minimal impact on society.

Further slamming the party, Purkayastha remarked, "Entering a Congress office feels like entering a madrasa," implying a lack of Hindu representation within the party. Purkayastha questioned, "Who would like to be part of Congress in the present times?"

In a sharp rebuttal, Rajat Chakraborty, the district Congress president of Karimganj, accused Purkayastha of being ungrateful to the party that gave him his political identity. Chakraborty stated, "He is a by-product of the Indian National Congress. What was his identity before Congress? He contested elections for the first time in 2011. And now he is commenting, making statements against those 80 percent voters for whom he won the elections."

Chakraborty challenged Purkayastha's loyalty and integrity, saying, "I challenge him to resign from the Congress MLA seat and contest elections. He is still sucking the blood of Congress." He dismissed Purkayastha's madrasa comparison while calling his comments divisive and unwarranted.

Purkayastha has been critical about Congress party, extending his support towards CM Himanta Biswa Sarma led BJP government in Assam.

Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Purkayastha predicted that several Congress members, leaders would join the BJP due to increasing internal conflict within the Congress party.
