Assam: MLA Lawrence Islary distributes relief cheques in Kokrajhar under CM’s development drive

As part of the ambitious “12 Days of Development” initiative spearheaded by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, a ceremonial distribution of financial aid was held today at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar. The event aimed to provide targeted support to individuals and communities through various welfare schemes.  

MLA Lawrence Islary, who presided over the event as Chief Guest, distributed financial assistance to 331 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme**, offering seed capital to promote entrepreneurship. Furthermore, ‘No Dues Certificates’ were issued to 119 borrowers under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme (Category-III, Phase-II), providing significant debt relief to Kokrajhar residents.  

A notable highlight was the provision of financial aid to 4,586 disaster-affected individuals, covering categories such as agriculture losses, house damage, and damages to clothing and utensils. This multifaceted relief package aims to alleviate hardships and support recovery efforts.  

Speaking to the gathering, MLA Lawrence Islary praised Chief Minister Sarma’s leadership, emphasizing that these initiatives embody the government’s commitment to inclusive development. He noted that the financial aid will empower individuals and foster economic stability, ensuring sustainable growth in Kokrajhar.  

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including ADC Kabita Deka, Nitya Binod Warie, senior officials of the District Administration, and other prominent stakeholders, marking a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift the region.
