MLA Sushanta Borgohain and several others narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident while on their way to Demow to assess flood damage in the region. The mishap occurred when their boat capsized in the floodwaters at Rajabari Barpathar in Nitaipukhuri.
MLA Borgohain, along with his companions, fell into the water as the boat sank. Fortunately, they were all rescued without serious injury. The group was on a mission to gather information and provide aid to the flood-affected residents of Demow.
The incident underscores the severe flooding that has plagued Demow and surrounding areas, as incessant rains have caused the Brahmaputra River to overflow, inundating several villages. The local communities are grappling with significant water damage and displacement due to the rising floodwaters.
