Assam: Newborn's body found abandoned by locals, handed over to Karimganj police

A newborn left abandoned at the roadside in Karimganj's Kaliganj Bagbari road on April 9 was rescued by locals. The infant was soon taken to the nearest hospital for treatment where the baby was informed to be dead.

Meanwhile, the alert locals informed the cops about the discovery who came to the spot and begun their investigation into finding the parents of the deceased baby.

There is widespread speculation that this tragic incident may be the result of an illicit relationship, leading to the newborn's abandonment. 

The body has now been transferred to Karimganj Civil Hospital for a postmortem to determine the cause of death. 

An atmosphere of sensation has spread in the region as the death of the infant and abandonment by inhuman parents have left many in shock and in furor.
