After years of remaining under the grip of insurgency, Assam's only hill district Dima Hasao has finally invited peace in its ambit as the number of tourists picked up in the recent years, welcoming several developmental projects and revenue generation means for the residents.

Dima Hasao is the only hill district in Assam and an attractive tourist destination for tourists from across the country and abroad. The state tourism department and the North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council have taken several steps to make Dima Hasao, the only hill district of Assam, a major tourist destination.

The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Garlosa on October 5 inaugurated several developmental projects including a homestay scheme, in order to attract tourists to have a comfortable stay while they enjoy the scenic beauty of Dima Hasao.

The Idinglo village under the Dimmalai constituency of the North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council is endowed with nature's unparalleled beauty, which is plastic free and a clean village. Not far from Bharpur and Haflong, the village is fast gaining popularity among the domestic tourists. Efforts are on to develop roadways to the village so in order to attract more tourists, especially from abroad.

"We are working towards the development of tourism. There are more than 500 stone jars in Balson village which serves as a historical and cultural set up for the ones seeking knowledge about the region's ancient past", said Debolal Garlosa while speaking to the reporters.

Stating that this village of Balson is a village with the largest stone quarries in Asia, the Chief Executive Member of the North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council called upon the tourists to come to this village of Idinglo and enjoy the scenic beauty.
