Assam: Over 3,000 residents displaced as water levels rises in Kaliabor

On the fifth consecutive day, the Brahmaputra River's water level in Kaliabor has slightly decreased. However, the backflow of water from Kalang River through the broken riverbanks part of Hatimura has led to significant flooding in the region.

The rising waters have inundated areas including Bamunipathar, Darigaji, Roumari, and Dalgaon fields.

Consequently, the road connecting Bamuni Nijeri is submerged, disrupting transportation and daily life.

As a result of the flooding, 51 villages in Kaliabor are underwater, forcing approximately 3,000 residents to seek refuge in shelter camps.

Local authorities are working to provide relief and support to the affected population.

Efforts to manage the situation are ongoing, with the priority being the safety and well-being of the displaced residents.

Emergency services are on high alert, and additional resources are being mobilized to assist those in need.

The community remains resilient despite the challenges posed by the floods, and support from neighboring regions and relief organizations continues to pour in.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further escalation.
