Assam: Panic grips Sivasagar's Jamuna road after gas pipeline leak

Panic gripped Sivasagar's Jamuna road area on October 16 after locals complained of alleged gas pipeline leak.

Alert locals called the fire tender and disaster management at around 10 pm and a major disaster was averted after the fire brigade sprinkled water to prevent the pipeline from catching fire.

An overwhelming crowd that had gathered around the pipeline were later dispersed off to prevent any untoward incident.

A similar incident was reported on May 2 when a gas pipeline leak had lead to a fire breakout in the region. The locals blamed the administration for the incident.
