Assam: Peace Accord signed between ULFA-Centre failed to fulfill people's expectations, said MP Naba Sarania

MP Naba Sarania and leader of Gana Suraksha Party on January 9 expressed displeasure over the peace accord signed between pro talk faction of ULFA and the Government of India stating that the Accord did not fulfill the expectations of the people of Assam.

Speaking to the reporters in Nalbari, MP Naba Sarania said, "Chetia has spoken lot many things against me. We have said earlier that when Anup Chetia came from Bangladesh only on the pre-condition of providing him freedom. And whatever the government assured him or promises him, he has received the same. Hence there is no use making any promises as it has been already cleared to him. I have nothing to say on this. They signed the Accord considering it viable. We have earlier mentioned that the sentiments and emotions of Assamese people have not been taken into consideration by them. As many people I have met, all said that they didn't expect this from Anup Chetia or ULFA. Because it is not about the sacrifices of thousands of youths, lakhs of families faced the brunt of the torture. Here itself you will find stories of youths who sacrificed their lives. Among here itself you will find individuals who faced prison terms in the name of ULFA-I"

Sarania further disclosed the party's preparation for the forth coming Lok Sabha elections. "The GSP will also contest elections in Assam as well as outside the state. I am confident that a total of 20 candidates will win in the upcoming elections".

The GSP leader also mentioned that Hagrama will not win in the upcoming elections. "Several leaders of UPPL, BPF are in talks with GSP. Soon, many members will join GSP as all know that Naba Sarania is trying his best to work out for the tribal community. While other parties only think how to finish the tribal community. But if good members join GSP then surely they will earn good positions in the council", added Naba Sarania.
